We created the VOSWR Facebook group to connect community members - It is a safe place for discussion and leveraging activity related to our core pillars of environment & habitat protection, sustainable development, cultural heritage, community organizing and advocacy. When you joined this group, you may remember agreeing to follow our community rules.
These rules not only keep this group friendly and focused, they also protect us from defamation. Australia's defamation case law has ruled that on Facebook both the person who made a defamatory comment and the creator of the page or group (in this case VoSWR) are liable for defamation. There is also precedent of local community Facebook Groups being sued for defamation by developers, which is why we take the moderation of this page so seriously.
When you see the admins of this group lock the comments on posts, step in with a reminder to be respectful and kind, ask you to edit your comment or completely remove posts/comments, we're doing it to ensure that this group remains a safe place for productive discussion around our mission.
You can help by keeping things friendly and respectful, and reporting anything that could be defamatory to the group admins.
Voices of South West Rocks Community Inc is an ethical, fair, collaborative and transparent group. We do things above board and legally and do not endorse any criminal, destructive or deceptive behaviour.
